Marla E. Nobles

Marla E. Nobles is an estate planning attorney and elder law advocate.  She earned her Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C., where she focused primarily on elder law issues. A member of the law school’s elder law clinic, she clerked at AARP and, during her final semester, she worked at a preeminent estate planning firm in the heart of the nation’s capital.

After working at an estate planning firm in Orange Park, where she received excellent mentorship, Marla made the difficult decision to start her own practice where she could focus the majority of her efforts on elder law.  Passionate about protecting Florida's vulnerable adults -- and children -- Marla is committed to providing the best legal services to her clients and their loved ones.  With an emphasis on protection and security, Marla believes strongly that Estate Planning and Elder Law go hand in hand.

A professional journalist in “a prior life", Marla witnessed firsthand the devastation life can bring – from the physical and emotional wreckage wrought by Hurricane Katrina to the 2008 recession that nearly brought an entire nation to its knees.  She also saw the beauty and strength that inevitably follows.  Writing about life's experiences was not enough; Marla wanted to better position herself to make a difference.  After a transformative month-long adventure throughout Western China (where she hiked the (in)famous Tiger Leaping Gorge), Marla made the decision to take a leap into the less daunting unknown (law school).  There, she found a way to hone her passion, clerking for two semesters at AARP, where she assisted the organization with the rollout of the Affordable Care Act; and later working for her favorite professor in one of D.C.'s most respected estate planning firms.

After four years, Marla said goodbye to D.C. and headed back to her home state of Florida to be closer to family.  Florida is a leader in the area of elder law, with its robust guardianship laws (which were recently amended in 2015).  Marla wanted to be a part of that evolution.  She passed the Florida Bar Examination in 2014 and joined The Edwards Law Firm and gained ample experience in both estate planning and trust and guardianship litigation.  In November of 2016, Marla launched Nobles Elder Law, P.L.L.C., so that she could focus her efforts in the area of Elder Law and provide advanced longterm care planning.

Marla is a member of the American Bar Association; the Jacksonville Bar Association; the Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar; the Florida Association for Women Lawyers; the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association; and, the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar.

Marla is also a proud alumna of The University of Florida.  Go Gators!
